The Adult Residential Behavioral Health Program operates seven Personal Care Homes in Delaware County. All are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
Rainbow House is located at 66 East Old Baltimore Pike. It is the first specialized personal care home in Delaware County. Opened in December 1993, Rainbow House was created as a part of the planned closure of Haverford State Hospital. Although levels of independence and diagnoses are diverse among the people in this home, most enjoy a high degree of independence.
Friendship Hall is located at 68 East Old Baltimore Pike. It is the first specialized personal care home in Delaware County to serve medically fragile individuals. Opened in June 1997, the building is handicap accessible and is home to eight individuals who are in recovery from a mental illness and have significant medical conditions. Elwyn staff works with the residents and medical providers to keep the residents in this home environment. Elwyn is able to change and modify staff and programming needs for medical conditions that develop and may require more attention.
Harmony Hall is located on Elwyn’s Media Campus. It is the second specialized personal care home in Delaware County to serve medically fragile individuals. Opened in 1999, the building is handicap accessible and is home to 16 individuals who are in recovery from a mental illness and have significant medical conditions. Harmony Hall also employs nursing staff to assist in serving these residents and Elwyn staff works with the residents and medical providers to keep residents in this home environment. Elwyn is able to change and modify staff and programming needs for medical conditions that develop and may require more attention.
Skyline Manor is in Glen Mills, PA. It is the third specialized personal care home in Delaware County to serve medically fragile individuals. Opened in 2000, the building is handicap accessible and is home to six individuals who have been diagnosed with both mental health disorders and significant medical conditions. Elwyn staff works with the residents and many medical providers to keep residents in home, even though many have daily medical appointments. Elwyn is able to change and modify staff and programming needs for medical conditions that develop and may require more attention as residents age.
The White House is on Hadley Road on Elwyn’s Media Campus. It is a specialized personal care home developed to serve five individuals with behavioral challenges. Opened in June 1998, this program provides comprehensive therapeutic services; the success of this program can be observed in the design of an intensive, consistent individualized behavior management program. This unique program uses innovative treatment planning and an array of empirically based therapeutic services.
The development and implementation of solid individualized programming have helped all of these men gain skills and control over their lives, with the result that the overall quality of their lives has improved.
Spring Haven is also on Hadley Road on Elwyn’s Media Campus. It is a specialized personal care home developed to serve eight individuals. Opened in June 1998, this program serves residents who have long histories of mental illness, including multiple hospitalizations. Several individuals have also been diagnosed with co-occurring substance abuse diagnoses. This site incorporates both clinical programming and community integration into the treatment options for the residents.
Pine Place is located at 78 East Old Baltimore Pike in Media, Delaware County. It is a specialized personal care home developed to serve three individuals. Opened in June 1999, this program was designed to meet the needs of individuals in recovery from a mental illness with some behavioral components. Successful support plans were developed for these residents, and all are involved in community integration activities.
