School-based Behavioral Health Services

Who’s Eligible

To be eligible for this program, the child must attend one of the schools in which this program operates: Carnell, Sheridan, and Lowell Elementary Schools.

  • Children, 3 to 6 years of age, who need specialized early intervention services for education and developmental issues can receive services through Elwyn’s Early Childhood Services.
  • Children who need psychiatric medication services along with other specialized behavioral services can receive services through Elwyn’s Behavioral Health Outpatient Services.

Making a Referral

To be referred to School-based Behavioral Health Services (SBBH), the child must go through the CSAP process at the school. Once the school has determined that the child is having behavioral problems, SBBH is then invited to talk with the parent about the program.

Funding

SBBH services are an entitlement service, and any child who has medical assistance and meets the medical necessity criteria is eligible. If the parent has private insurance, that child is referred to the mental health provider on the back of the card to receive a psychological evaluation. Funding for SBBH is provided by Community Behavioral Health.
