CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST TRAINING

Delaware County is developing and implementing a peer specialist training program for sixty individuals who are in the process of recovery for behavioral health challenges and are interested in providing peer support. Peer support is a system of giving and receiving help based on a mutual understanding and relationship between two peers. Peer supports can come in many forms, such as instilling hope, supporting individuals through the process of getting services and helping an individual learn about themselves or the options they have in life.

Individuals who are willing to self-disclose and share their life experiences on recovery from mental health disorders and/or co-occurring disorders are now being certified in Pennsylvania as peer specialists to work in behavioral health organizations.

The next training for Peer Specialists will be held in April 2007. Applications for this training are due by March 1, 2007 and are currently being accepted.  If you are interested in applying for the training or learning more about this program please contact
