Curtis, Scott and Strine Elected To Elwyn Board of Directors

Elwyn is pleased to announce the elections of William P. Curtis, Jr., Clarence “Scotty” Scott, and Judith Strine as new Members of the Board of Directors. 

"I am pleased to welcome Bill Curtis, Judy Strine and Scotty Scott to the Elwyn Board,” said Dr. Joseph Pappano, Chairman of Elwyn’s Board of Directors. “They bring a wealth of experience, as well as a passion for the well-being of the individuals that Elwyn serves. I look forward to the impact they will make at Elwyn.”

William P. Curtis, of Media, Pa., is Co-Founder and Principal of Porter & Curtis, LLC. Since 1998, Mr. Curtis has served as a consultative insurance broker and risk management support services provider. Previously, Mr. Curtis held a variety of underwriting and brokerage positions in Philadelphia. 

Mr. Curtis holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a M.B.A. in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University and a Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law.  Additionally, Mr. Curtis holds Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Reinsurance designations from the Insurance Institute of America. He is a licensed Pennsylvania Resident Broker, Surplus Lines Broker and is admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Curtis serves on the Boards of the Friends of St. Martin de Porres, NoCopi (NNUP), St. Joseph’s University Academy of Risk Management and Insurance, and Rembrandt SPC. Mr. Curtis is a charter member of Elwyn’s Business Advisory Council.

Clarence “Scotty” Scott, of Mountain View, California, is a founding member of the Elwyn NC Board of Directors. Mr. Scott was born in Norristown, Pa., and has a sister who resides on the Media campus. He holds a degree in Political Science from Morgan State College in Baltimore.

Mr. Scott played football at Morgan State College and tried out with the National Football League’s Houston Oilers as a free agent. After serving for two years in the United States Army, Mr. Scott was acquired as a free agent in 1969 by the Boston (now New England) Patriots where he enjoyed a four-year career playing defensive safety. He retired from the NFL at the age of 31, and began selling typewriters to IBM’s largest corporate clients. In his 25 years with IBM, Mr. Scott rose to various positions in Sales and Marketing before retiring in 1992.

Mr. Scott has been married for 32 years to his wife, Shellye, the CEO of a Palo Alto-based software design company, and has two grown children. In addition to serving on the Elwyn NC Board of Directors, Mr. Scott has also been involved in creating employment opportunities for the homeless population in the South Bay region of San Francisco, California.

Judith Strine, of Media, Pa., served 11 years on the Board of Trustees of the Tyler Arboretum. While at Tyler, she helped establish its annual “Tyler at Twilight” Auction, its largest yearly fundraiser. Mrs. Strine currently serves on Tyler Arboretum’s Development Committee.

Mrs. Strine has been married for 50 years to William Strine of Media, Pa. and has three children and five grandchildren. A retired interior designer, Mrs. Strine is a member of the Media Presbyterian Church.

Along with her husband, Bill, Mrs. Strine is involved with City Team Ministries in Chester, Pa.; The New Beginnings School in Chester, Pa.; Rocky Run YMCA in Media, Pa.; Media Youth Center; and the Williamson Trade School.
