Dental Services

People with special needs often have difficulty securing basic dental care. Developmental disabilities, physical and medical complications, and behavioral problems often serve as barriers to acceptance at local community clinics. Additionally, a typical dentist is not equipped to offer services to patients who are fearful or difficult to manage.

Elwyn’s Dental Clinics provide comprehensive, quality dental care to these special populations. Caring, experienced staff work closely with persons with disabilities, age five and older, to ensure that they are comfortable and well cared for while receiving dental services. If necessary, patients over 14 can be sedated with IV sedation administered by a Board-certified Anesthesiologist (IV sedation is expected to be offered in Philadelphia in Spring 2008).

Located on Elwyn’s Media Campus in Delaware County and at Elwyn Philadelphia at 4040 Market Street, Elwyn's Dental Clinics offers a full range of dental services covered by insurance:

  • preventive care
  • comprehensive exams
  •  x-rays and panographs
  • cleanings
  • behavior management
  • periodontal therapy (such as quadrant scaling and root planing)
  • restorative fillings
  • endodontic treatment (root canals)
  • extractions (performed only when necessary)
  • crowns
  • removable prosthondontics (partials and dentures)
