About Elwyn

Charles S. McLister

President and Chief Executive Officer

Charles “Chuck” McLister is the president and CEO of Elwyn, the oldest and one of the largest non-profit human services organizations of its type in the nation.  As the 9th president of the company, he establishes the organization’s strategic direction, and works with the board of directors to ensure successful pursuit of the organization’s mission.

Prior to joining Elwyn, Chuck held a variety of leadership positions, guiding companies that deliver a broad range of behavioral health and human services, including acute psychiatric services, addiction treatment, acquired brain-injury services, alternative and special education, early intervention services, and support of individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. Chuck was a recipient of the 2023 Philadelphia Titan 100 Award and was selected for the 2023 City & State Pennsylvania Impact Award. In 2019, Elwyn won the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s award for Non-Profit of the Year. In 2019, Chuck was the recipient of the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Behavioral Health and Sciences.

Chuck is an active volunteer and philanthropist and is currently member of the Rutgers Health Leadership Council, advising the Chancellor to advance healthcare strategy through the eight schools and many centers and institutes at the university. From 2010 to 2017, he served on two non-profit boards: first, as a Trustee for Bancroft Neurohealth, an agency supporting persons with developmental challenges and brain injuries, and also as the Chairman the Board for Hopeworks, a charity supporting young men and women in Camden, New Jersey. For many years, Chuck held professional certifications in addiction treatment and supervision from the Pennsylvania Chemical Abuse Certification Board (later known as the PA Certification Board, or “PCB”). He holds an MA degree in Applied Psychological Research from Penn State University and an MBA, with honors, from Villanova University.

Chuck lives in Haddonfield, New Jersey with his three children—Madeline, Ian, and Charlotte—and his wife, Elizabeth. He is a native of Pittsburgh, which also makes him an unapologetic Steelers and Penguins fan.

  • What motivates me to wake up and go to work is making an impact in the behavioral health industry and in the lives of the children and parents we serve.
