At Elwyn, our mission is to make life better for people with behavioral and developmental challenges. The Elwyn Ball raises critical funds for the individuals we support at Elwyn; funds that create an opportunity to live a meaningful life. We invite you to support the individuals we serve at the National Constitution Center on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

Annual Honoree: Jared CulottaWe are delighted to honor Jared “Jay” Culotta, Director Emeritus of The Wawa Foundation, at the 44th Annual Elwyn Ball. Jay was the initial President and Chairman of the Board of The Wawa Foundation, from its inception in 2014 until his recent retirement in 2023. In addition to leading The Wawa Foundation, Jay worked at Wawa for more than 25 years, most recently as Treasurer and Assistant Secretary. Today, he continues to serve The Wawa Foundation as Director Emeritus. Wawa and The Wawa Foundation have donated more than $150 million to causes supporting health, hunger, and everyday heroes during Jay’s tenure. Jay served on the Board of Directors at Elwyn, and continues to serve on the Elwyn Board of Advisors. With Jay’s support, the Wawa Foundation awarded Elwyn a $250,000 grant for the new Student Transition Center in June 2023 as part of the 175th Anniversary Campaign. The Student Transition Center will simulate actual jobs and build independent living skills for up to 100 students each year. Jay’s leadership has helped shape Elwyn as we know it today, and the impact of his partnership will continue on at Elwyn for many, many years. In addition to his work at Elwyn, Jay has served or currently serves on several other non-profit Boards, focused on intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as physical, medical, emotional, and behavioral health challenges. Jay also has a family fundraising initiative supporting the Down Syndrome Clinic and Research Center of the Kennedy Krieger Institute, in honor of his daughter, Hannah Rose Culotta.
