Elwyn New Jersey presents their Third Annual “Murder in the Mansion” cocktail party and play.
There will be two shows – Friday and Saturday April 21 & 22, 2017. Both shows are at 7pm.
The show will take place in the Maxham Mansion at Elwyn New Jersey in the parlor and dining room. Chef Rob Buono of the Greenview Inn of Eastlyn Country Club will once again serve up delicious gourmet hors d’oeuvres along with signature cocktails. Guests are encouraged to dress up in themed costumes and be prepared to interact with the actors. There will be a murder and guests are encouraged to guess “who done it”. This year’s theme is “1930s Hollywood”. Below is the play’s synopsis written by writer/director Shirley Burke.
Synopsis: 1930’s Hollywood is the location of this year’s drama. The movie industry is not very old but has just turned from silent movies to talkies. Some actors drawing good box office returns have good salaries and studio power. For the most part, though, the studio heads, particularly, Adolph Zukor, are power brokers of the industry. Act One takes place in the Coconut Grove restaurant and nightclub in the Ambassador Hotel. Actors, tourists and movie people gather almost nightly to be seen and find out what’s going on. They are entertained by Lynn Roberts, best friend of Carole Lombard, an up and coming actress in the business. Act Two takes place in the Paramount Studio in the dressing rooms, hallways and offices.
Cost to attend is $50 per person. Seating* is limited to 50 persons per night. Sponsorship opportunities are available as well. There will be an ad book/playbill also available that will showcase area businesses who wish to advertise.
