New Grant Expands Food Access for Families

星期二, 14 4 月 2026

Elwyn has been awarded a grant from the Leo & Peggy Pierce Family Foundation to expand food support for families served through its Early Learning Services (ELS) programs. The funding will strengthen the work of Elwyn’s Family Resource Center (FRC), which provides critical assistance and stabilization services to families navigating economic hardship. This investment comes at a pivotal time, as demand continues to rise among families facing food insecurity across the communities Elwyn serves.

The initiative, Nourishing Futures: Expanding Food Support for Elwyn Families, was developed in response to an urgent and growing need identified last fall, when increasing numbers of families began reaching out for help meeting basic needs. In response, Elwyn committed internal resources to ensure immediate support—reinforcing its belief that families cannot wait when it comes to food access.

Through the Family Resource Center, Elwyn ensures families can access both food and the services their children depend on. This work is essential to Elwyn’s mission. When families are struggling to put food on the table, children are less able to fully engage in early learning and developmental services. By addressing food insecurity, the Family Resource Center helps stabilize families, strengthen engagement, and support better outcomes for children.

Elwyn is deeply grateful to the Leo & Peggy Pierce Family Foundation for its partnership and commitment to advancing family stability. This support helps ensure that hunger is never the reason a child cannot benefit from early education—and moves this critical work toward a more sustainable, reliable model for the families who depend on it.
