This is the sixth year for the Annual Harvest Dinner at Glenview Hall! This wonderful event brings everyone within the Glenview community together. Residents and their families gathered with residential staff, custodial staff, and administration to enjoy a great dinner.
The specialized menu was catered by Dining Services and served by volunteers from Elwyn Staff, Administration and their family. Served this year was pumpkin soup, pork tenderloin, blush pasta, salad, potatoes, medley vegetable, and small cheesecake desserts!
Originally an idea of Shanda O’Dennis, Elwyn’s Associate Director of Supports for Living, the event was developed 6 years ago with a donation from a family with the intention of doing something nice for Glenview residents and families. This year the dinner brought together over 130 members of the Glenview community!
Shanda said, “We worked with [the donating] family and developed a dinner that was supposed to be a onetime event to allow families to come in, sit down, and have a meal with their family members when they may not otherwise have the support or resources to do so. This meal is a time for staff, clients, and families to come together meet each other and spend time with everyone as one collective team in the person’s home at Glenview. We have a good time, we raffle off some gift baskets, and take lots of pictures!” The response to the event was so overwhelming, it became an annual event and we are now in our 6th year.
Mrs. O’Dennis has also pointed out how important it is for families to get to know her and all of the staff. “If you are leaving your loved one with us, I want you to know and trust us. This event gives the opportunity for that interaction.”
