Elwyn Awarded Accreditation from Joint Commission

Tuesday, 23 June 2026

Media, PA June 2026 – Elwyn, the longest running human services nonprofit of its kind in the nation, has earned Behavioral Health Care & Human Services Accreditation from Joint Commission, an independent, evidence-based standards setting organization that sets the benchmark for safe, high-quality patient care through healthcare accreditation. This accomplishment formally recognizes Elwyn’s ongoing commitment to meeting rigorous performance standards and delivering the safest, highest quality care to its patients.

Elwyn underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey earlier this year. During this visit, a team of Joint Commission surveyors assessed compliance across key areas such as environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and performance improvement.

“Achieving Joint Commission accreditation reflects the dedication of our employees and their unwavering commitment to the people we support every day,” said Charles McLister, President and CEO of Elwyn. “This recognition affirms the quality, safety, and compassion that define our work and demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement across our organization. We are proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our teams whose efforts made it possible.”

Joint Commission surveyors conducted on-site observations and interviews to identify performance strengths and opportunities for continued improvement. With decades of expertise and a data-driven accreditation process, Joint Commission helps ensure healthcare organizations adhere to leading quality and safety practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to better patient care.

“Joint Commission congratulates Elwyn for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, Joint Commission. “Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with Elwyn to enable and affirm the highest standards of healthcare quality and patient safety. Together, we are elevating care for all patients, and we appreciate Elwyn’s collaboration throughout this process.”

This accreditation reinforces Elwyn’s longstanding commitment to making life better for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, behavioral health challenges, and other needs. By continually strengthening quality, safety, and accountability, Elwyn remains focused on helping individuals and families lead meaningful, fulfilling lives and reaching their fullest potential.
