When a parent or parents first discover their child has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), they may experience a confusing and challenging time.
The most important thing is to understand that many autism services for parents exist that can help with providing a happy and healthy experience for the child who has autism. Helping families is one of our primary goals. We have provided behavioral services for individuals with emotional or intellectual disabilities for over 150 years. We are also committed to supporting their families, and have many autism services for parents, including:
If you have yet to receive an official autism diagnosis, or are you looking for a second opinion, Elwyn can put you in touch with experts who will assist with diagnosis. The diagnosis may take some time, but we are committed to making sure that children and adults receive accurate diagnoses.
One of the most important factors in raising a child with ASD is that they receive an education tailored to their needs, which often includes additional emotional support and socialization training. Elwyn offers a wide variety of programs, such as our Davidson School and our Residential Treatment Facilities, which are geared specifically to meeting these needs. Wraparound services are also available to support children with ASD and their families outside of schooling.
Parents and Children Together (PACT)
Our PACT program is specifically designed to help parents in need of additional support or help improving their parenting skills. Our program can be very useful in creating great outcomes for a child with ASD!
ARCH of Lehigh Valley Outreach Services
Community outreach and understanding of autism is another important factor. Our Autism Resource Community Hub is designed to increase awareness, education, and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
